Virtual EasyVoxBox

A talk was given about this at the Astricon 2007. There was a good level of response and there seemed to be a consensus that it was a good direction for the industry. This page will bring together the refernces for that talk. The paper was written as a solution for Virtual Hosted PBX. However, in the course of discussions at Astricon, there were other possible uses for this technology to drive Asterisk and telephony applications.

Overview

  • The base EasyVoxBox system is built using Asterisk and FreePBX. The auto install provides a consistent baseline for each instance.
  • OpenVZ is used for the virtual Linux operating system.
  • EasyVoxBox is installed on the virtual instance.
  • Multiple templates can be built for quick virtual installations.
  • Supports the Zaptel kernel device drivers for IAX2 channel, Meetme conferences and shared hardware.
