EasyVoxBox - The Open Source Phone System

Main site : EasyVoxBox.org
(Last updated on 1-28-07)

Introduction

EasyVoxBox is an open source, community based, business grade IP PBX phone system. A full featured phone system, EasyvoxBox has both VOIP and PSTN capabilities. EasyVoxBox is based on Asterisk and freePBX and installs a complete system quick and easy. It gives full control and provides additional system utilities via the web based user interface.
EasyVoxBox can be built on low cost PC hardware and is very configurable. It is built from the source code of all it's components. Everything that is needed to customize and add other packages is ready and available. EasyVoxBox can serve as a web based intranet server and file server for a small to medium size company.
Access control is built into the EasyVoxBox system. It is adjustable from the Main Start Panel screen and is designed so that the defined groups will only see and have access to the appropriate areas. So for example a user could login to check email or setup a conference call and not have access to other areas.

Great build! Good feature!

"It is built from the source code of all it's components." I am particularly attracted by this salient feature of EVB which makes upgrading simple and easy. All one needs is to go to the respective components websites and upgrade the components according to the instructions given. For example, I upgraded Asterisk/Zaptel/Freepbx to versions 1.2.14/1.2.12/2.2.0. So far, there isn't any issue at all, except that I found a great improvement in the voice quality of the zaptel lines.
